Frequently asked questions
What a Digital Signature Certificate costs in India, and what the price depends on.
How much does a Digital Signature Certificate cost?
The total has three parts: the certificate, the USB token it is stored on, and the validity period you choose. A Class 3 individual signature with a token for two years typically falls in a modest band, with the token being a one-time cost you reuse at renewal.
Why do DSC prices vary so much between providers?
Price depends on the certificate class, whether it is signature-only or signature-plus-encryption, the validity you pick (one, two or three years), and whether a fresh token is included. Partners also add their own service fee, so the same certificate is quoted differently.
Is the USB token included in the DSC price?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no, so always check. The token is a one-time purchase; if you already own a compatible FIPS-certified token you can reuse it and pay only for the certificate at renewal, which lowers the cost.
Does a longer validity DSC work out cheaper?
Usually yes. A three-year certificate costs more upfront than a one-year one but less per year, and it saves you renewing annually. Validity limits depend on the certificate type and current CCA guidelines.
Are there any hidden charges when buying a DSC?
Watch for separate charges for the token, for an encryption certificate, for courier or shipping, and for GST. A clear quote lists the certificate, token and validity separately so you can compare like with like.
